about

Cradle and a Grave began life as a weird, disturbing dream. It was black and white (of course) of a chaotic urban setting with thousands of people racing by in this stop and start jerky motion style.

Just as my anxiety was at it's peak I heard a voice from behind me, like someone whispering in my ear.
"one door into the land of the living, one veil we all pass"

Then suddenly a person racing passes stops with wild and terrified eyes.
"I've just seen my life through another man's eyes"
Then he raced away and I awoke in a sweat.

I wrote the music within a few days, but it took years to write the lyrics because I wasn't sure what to say. Then suddenly one afternoon the lyrics were there. So there it is. Take what is helpful, leave the rest.

A Cradle and A Grave
Written by Guy Morris (c)

One door into the land of the living
One veil that we all pass
I’m not sure but I may have had a vision
he says as he stepped past
Just seen my life through another man’s eye

It’s a fine line between the truth and our perception
Do I believe what I believe that I believe
Now how long have I weaved my own deception
Unable to take a leap of faith
You know someday we’re all gonna meet our one day

With a beginning comes an end
With every step is just a journey we take
every voice is just a story we tell
A seed must die to live again.
Make no mistake
There comes a time in life when every will must cease
A battle comes become the time a peace
But at the end of the day it’s just a cradle, just a grave

Taken back by these words of a stranger
A shock wave running through my lethargy
Face to face with the darkest of my dangers
Self-righteousness keeping me from real change
Who I am or who I’m meant to be

His last words I hear from the distance
Life is so much more than we can see
A mercy, a kindness, forgiveness more precious than
Sum of gold of every earthly king
Every sacrifice an eternity of peace

With a beginning comes an end
With every step is just a journey we take
every voice is just a story we tell
A seed must die to live again.
Make no mistake
There comes a time in life when every will must cease
A battle comes become the time a peace
But at the end of the day it’s just a cradle, just a grave
