Song of Lazarus is the story of Lazarus from the eyes of Lazarus in the moments before he passes and the moments after he awakens.

Lazarus lived in Bethany where Jesus healed a man by the pool, not too far from the woman at the well, down the road from where Jesus healed a blind man on the road and down the street from where the broken heart of his sister Mary was restored as she anointed His feet with oil.

Lazarus knew these people, their names, their stories and he witnessed their faith. That planted a seed of faith in him. That seed echoed back when the Lord called him out of the grave and the mourners cried 'defender of the innocent.'

Unlike most of my songs, I wrote this song on request from a dear pastor friend Curt Brunk, who wanted something "really big" for Easter.

As if yearning all her life for a love she never found

Discovered a love who she had lost long ago

Always apprehensive in his gaze
He would stagger through the darkest night on the brightest day
From the shadows of a nameless life
to the presence of the Word divine
Only one stain he prayed would wash away

Jaded by the whispers and disgrace
She was an outcast of a shattered life she wanted to escape
She never tried to understand
surrendering without a plan
And gave the only gift had left to give away
