The Lady With Latin Eyes
Written by Guy Morris (c) 2015
Goin' nowhere, got no care
lettin' the Puerto Rican sun soak in
Wastin' my time, got no dime
watchin' the Caribbean tide roll on in
It always happens when you least expect it
You're hearts unguarded and it's unprotected
Oh my,my,my,my,my,my,my,my
The lady with Latin eyes, ey, ey, ey, ey, hah!
Stole my soul and save my life
The lady with Latin eyes, ey, ey, ey
It was a hot, hot Latin night
In the shade of a palm, we coolin down
the heat is lookin', oh, so wet on her lips
Feet in the sand, she take my hand
and so I'm pullin her closer,
yea, man, gonna steal my first kiss
Who fallin for who, I silently wonder
One touch of her lips I know she's pulling me under
Oh my,my,my,my,my,my,my,my
The lady with Latin eyes, ey, ey, ey, ey, hah!
Stole my soul and save my life
The lady with Latin eyes, ey, ey, ey
It was a hot, hot Latin night
The sun is slippin down, the moon is round
the breeze is blowin cool from over the sand
Hold her in my arms, I feel her heart
beating to the rhythm smooth, Calypso band
Softly she whispers, 'love will hold us together'
one look in her eyes, I think I'm lost forever
Oh my,my,my,my,my,my,my,my
The lady with Latin eyes, ey, ey, ey, ey, hah!
Stole my soul and save my life
The lady with Latin eyes, ey, ey, ey
It was a hot, hot Latin night
On a hot, hot Latin night
It was a hot, hot Latin night
Sun is slippin down, the moon is round
the breeze is blowin' cool from over the sand
Hold her in my heart,

Cradle and a Grave

A Cradle and A Grave
Written by Guy Morris (c)
One door into the land of the living
One veil that we all pass
I’m not sure but I may have had a vision
he says as he stepped past
Just seen my life through another man’s eye
It’s a fine line between the truth and our perception
Do I believe what I believe that I believe
Now how long have I weaved my own deception
Unable to take a leap of faith
You know someday we’re all gonna meet our one day
With a beginning comes an end
With every step is just a journey we take
every voice is just a story we tell
A seed must die to live again.
Make no mistake
There comes a time in life when every will must cease
A battle comes become the time a peace
But at the end of the day it’s just a cradle, just a grave
Taken back by these words of a stranger
A shock wave running through my lethargy
Face to face with the darkest of my dangers
Self-righteousness keeping me from real change
Who I am or who I’m meant to be
His last words I hear from the distance
Life is so much more than we can see
A mercy, a kindness, forgiveness more precious than
Sum of gold of every earthly king
Every sacrifice an eternity of peace
With a beginning comes an end
With every step is just a journey we take
every voice is just a story we tell
A seed must die to live again.
Make no mistake
There comes a time in life when every will must cease
A battle comes become the time a peace
But at the end of the day it’s just a cradle, just a grave

Face to Face
By Guy Morris (c)
From the shadows of abandon
She watched as dignity and hope slip through her young hands
From her solitude and her shame she’s still standing
But she just may never love again
Without a love worth trusting in
Someday, one way or another
Through the Father’s love on her knees or by His grace
She won’t to run, She won’t need to run any longer
She’s gonna stand face to face
And there’s a boy and I’ve known him for ages
He’s been wounded, he’s afraid and he’s full of rages
Now sometimes in life we gotta learn to heal in stages
But he don’t seem to turn the page
on the hour when he was betrayed
Someday, one way or another
Through the Father’s love on his knees or by His grace
He won’t need to run any longer
He’s gonna stand face to face
And if I’m ever gonna be The kinda man that I wanna be
I gotta stand up and face the man that I am
And if I ever hope to find - any peace in this life
I need to believe I can
Lord, help me believe that I can believe that
Someday, one way or another
Through the Father’s love on MY knees or by His grace
I don’t wanna run, I don’t wanna run any longer
I’m gonna stand face to face

Warm of Your Arms

Warm of Your Arms
By Guy Morris
Baby, I finally understand
It's time you and I had nothing left to hide
I never want to live without you, far beyond any doubt
You're still the one I wanna have holding me tonight
Heaven only knows how I've learned
May have been the strength of your embrace
I can never lose hope, a truth hidden deep in my soul
You're all I ever never, everyone else was just in the way
So let the heat of the sun come
let the cold of the night call
True love will never fail to stand any fall
With my last breath the angels will envy my heart
I was loved in the warm of your arms
I have loved true love in the warm of your arms
Baby, I'm in over my head
No place heaven or earth I'd rather be
Still aches when you're gone - the days and nights get so long
No space for time or place to come between
There will never be a need for anyone more
Than the woman I find in the world behind your eyes
Feeling lost in the thrill, always have, always will
Still be you and me when our souls meet on the other side
So let the heat of the sun come
let the cold of the night call
True love will never fail to stand any fall
With my last breath the angels will envy my heart
I was loved in the warm of your arms
I have loved true love in the warm of your arms

Seventy Sevens

Seventy Sevens
By Guy Morris (c)
She would never talk about it
Slowly she would turn her gaze away
It had been so long, she hardly knew how to live without it
The moment had gone, the faces had changed but the story was still the same
Turning her eyes up to heaven
Will the innocent find love – after the will to love is lost
Let there be seventy-sevens – may the healing of the heavens come
He could see the shadow falling
He knows he nears the end of his day
The voices behind him echo a life that’s broken
A man can run a life a life time and never leave behind his shame
Turning his eyes up to heaven
Is there hope for man whose chances to change are gone
Let there be – seventy-sevens – may the mercy of the heavens come
God will bless the righteous man
I see the humble waiting for the crumbs that may be fallin
But go ask any slave and say how long it take to reach the promised land
‘Oh Man, a lifetime or two and some never do
Some only see it from the distance’, yeah
He still has trouble sleeping
They told him, “it could haunt the bravest of hearts’
He turns on the light, there’s a life to live in the morning
And maybe it’s only a warning neer to forget where you come from
Turning his eyes up to heaven
On the road to peace are many bridges of faith to cross
So let there be, seventy-sevens and may the presence of the heavens come
The way it comes my way - the way that I pass it on
Today and on that day - I keep fallin, falling on the cross
The way it comes my way - the way that I pass it on
Let there be forgiveness between us
Let his love wash it off and let love wash it off

Weakness
By Guy Morris (c)
I got a weakness
For the sound of her sigh.
She's leaving me breathless whenever she crosses my mind
I got a weakness
For her lips painted red
Oh man, the way that she dresses slip into my head
What am I gonna do. The girl slippin into my soul
She leaving me speechless. My deep blues are long gone
She's stealing the kisses. Get no sleep til the dawn comes
I got a weakness baby, strong as my love for you
I got a weakness baby, strong as my love
I got weakness
For the feel of her fingertips
Oh yeah, her long caresses, make me lose my grip
I got a weakness
I wanna shout the news
Got no, I got no defenses when she slip into the mood
What am I gonna say. Some things a man can't explain
She leaving me speechless. My deep blues are long gone
She's stealing the kisses. Get no sleep til the dawn comes
I got a weakness baby, strong as my love for you
I got a weakness baby, strong as my love
And it's a wonder baby, maybe my time has come
When my girl and my love and my weakness
My angel you are one
And it's a wonder baby, maybe my time has come
When my girl and my love and my weakness
My angel you are one

Cover Me

Cover Me
By Guy Morris (c)
Cover me, cover me, cover me
When the darkness comes, cover me
Truth is swallowed up the lies, cast your light over my life
When the darkness comes cover me
Cover me, cover me, cover me
When the arrows come, cover me
Trouble comes from every side until there’s nowhere left to hide
When the arrows come cover me
I have lived among the poor in spirit
Wounded by the anger, the fear, the need, the shame, the blame
I have believed on Your word, now I need to hear it
Hear Your Spirit call to me as I call on your name
Cover me, cover me, cover me
When the accuser comes, cover me
When every secret is brought to mind, within your mercy I will find
When the accuser comes cover me
When every shadow is brought to light, beneath Your sacrifice I hide
When the accuser comes, cover me
When the arrows, come cover
When the darkness comes, cover me

Beautiful Bride
04:22
|
|||
And I’m not a very handsome man
I don’t stand tall and strong
And if I’ve ever turn a young girls head
I know my prouder days have long, long gone
In my heart a love keep beating strong
True love will never grow weak
Beating stronger with your standing by my side
Be my Beautiful bride
And I’m not an influential man
I guess nobody knows my name
And I can’t buy you any diamond rings
You won’t need them when I sail you away
In my heart is a lifetime full of love, girl
And it’s ready now, come to shower down on you
I lay it down, everything I am inside
Be my Beautiful bride
And if by chance the years ahead don’t treat us kindly
I won’t have a single regret, not if you’re beside me
I know the Father gave us this love to be the answer
Telling us to rely on each other, you know that I rely on your love
Girl, I rely on your love
Cuz I’m not a very holy man
Now if it wasn’t for His grace
But I’ve see mercy by His hand
I recall the time and the place I first saw your face
In my heart an evolution is going on
Something changing somewhere deep inside
Standing here looking deep into the eyes
The eyes of my beautiful bride

Invisible
03:50
|
|||
It was the dead of night - There came a pounding rage
A single shot and everything changed
Stay out of sight - Keep on the move
Find a shadow dark and deep and unused
There's never any honor being invisible
Like an open, searing cut. A wound that never heals.
Never any honor being invisible
A familiar face you pass. A need you never see.
A big step aside - An avoided gaze
Saying, ‘His poor mother must be so ashamed’
I see, no way to win - I see, no way to leave
So I been trading in my dignity to eat
There's never any honor being invisible
Like an open, searing cut. A wound that never heals.
Never any honor being invisible
A familiar face you pass. A need you never see.
Shocks to my soul sure have taken a toll on the ones I love
Judgment and shame have taken a toll on me
I rattle my brain and I try to explain being left for dead
Slowly corrupting inside while everyone turns their head
There's never any honor being invisible
Like an open, searing cut. A wound that never heals.
Never any honor being invisible
A familiar face you pass. A need you never see.
It was the dead of night - There came a pounding rage
A single shot and everything changed

On the Street
03:51
|
|||
Out of the dirtied window of an all night diner
into the heat of a summer night
Onto a street that was littered with hearts embittered
by the struggles for love and for life
I see a graying old woman, with a desperate hold on
What’s left of her hopes and her dreams
Walk by some girls at the corner on the fast track to no where
Young beauty is sellin on the cheap
I see them trade in their soul for survival
Love is nameless, he pays up and goes back
on the street, on the street
I can see into the shadows, there’s a young boy not so old
There’s a hunger and fear in his eyes
His clothes are all tattered, his spirit been battered
Too many needs, too damn long denied
He doesn’t say one word, only holds his palm upward
His head hangs between his knee
And so I reach in my pocket, I pull it out and drop it
I can ease the pain, they’ll never cure the disease
And as I turn away from view, he whispers “God bless you”
The only words of life that boy ever knew,
on the street, on the street
And it took some time, maybe I finally realized
My life was blessed, I’m warm, I’m loved and I’m full
But somewhere, someplace, somehow along the line
I’d learn to live with a heart grown shallow and cold
And heaven knows, so I won’t deny
But when I look for the truth, in all the years of my youth
There by His grace go I,
on the street, on the street
Out of the dirtied window of an all night diner
into the heat of a summer night
